The National Football League has been in the news for a lot recently for a lot of negative things. One of the most recent media spotlights on the NFL has to do with a former cheerleader who was charged with a variety of sex-related crimes. While the former Baltimore Ravens cheerleader isn't with the NFL organization anymore, she previously made headlines because she was the oldest NFL cheerleader at that time.
She allegedly had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy. The boy is a student at the same school that the woman's child attends. She has since been forbidden from going to the school's campus. The headmaster at the school says that the school has instituted additional security measures to ensure that students remain safe.
The woman has already pleaded not guilty to the charges placed against her. She is facing four counts of unlawful sexual contact, two counts of third-degree rape and three counts of providing alcohol to minors. She was released on a bond of $84,000 in connection with these charges.
It is hard to think of any adult having an inappropriate sexual encounter with a teenager. Despite the fact that the woman is being accused of just that, it is vital for everyone reading this and those who hear about her story to understand that she pleaded not guilty. That means we must assume she is innocent. She has the right to present her side of the story as a defense against these charges. She must do so in an effective manner, which includes knowing her rights as she goes through the criminal justice process.
